“Akov’s story begins in Kraljevo, inspired by occasions in which our father wanted to have a fine glass of rakija or two with his friends… Then he got himself into know-how and production process to such detail so that he actually created/developed a brand(y) new sort of Serbian brandy i.e. rakija that is being produced in fertile soils of Raška region where seven Serbian kings were crowned.”
My father passed onto me the passion for intriguing yet complex procedure of rakija distilling, and that’s how entire process of learning started and I ‘ve become thoroughly committed to it.
Everything went naturally, because nature gives you so much, a whole bucket, you just need to know what to do with it, how to embrace it with all your senses so that it’ll award you manifold in return.
Our goal was to make finest brandy, yet sticking to the (holy) trinity of endurance, standard and quality.
To be good at something takes countless attempts to find a winning combo, but also means investing, there’s nothing to hide, everyone knows it. In the beginning, we were processing large quantities at the distillery, but the quality of our liquor varied considerably so we didn’t have that endurance part. Then we decided to modernize our production line. We understood the meaning of “less is more” quite well, so once you have people around sharing the same passion with you, success is inevitable. Now, we are distilling far larger quantities in cooperation with two brandy masters (Two Mr Know–rakija-alls). Not only have we achieved endurance, standard and quality, but also there came quantity.
